Justin and I figured we would make this blog so family members could follow along with us on our journey.
As a brief introduction, Justin and I have decided to do Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) along with In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). As most of you know, I inherited a genetic condition called Hypokalemic Periodic Paralysis (HPP). HPP is an autosomal dominant condition that has a 50% chance of being passed on to our children. My brother, Matthew, has this disease, as does my mother, Cheryl.
While this disease isn't life threatening, Justin and I have decided that we wanted to save our children unnecessary suffering as well as potentially having them inherit a life-threatening mutation of HPP. So, now we start our journey!
