Ten week appointment with high risk doctor

So today Justin and I went to our ten week appointment at the high risk doctor, Dr. Vora. Her office is actually in North Shore Hospital. Justin and I went to her because Dr. Hershlag wanted us to talk to her about CVS. CVS is Chorionic Villus Sampling and it's when they take a sample of the placenta from both babies and test it for chromosomal abnormalities and in my case, they would test for Hypokalemic periodic paralysis. The problem with this is that there is a relatively high risk for miscarriage because you're taking a sample of the babies placenta at 12 weeks. And, since I have twins, they would have to go in twice, and therefore the risk of miscarriage doubles.

But, Justin and I went to the appointment anyway to talk to Dr. Vora about the procedure. Her office is really nice because she has all of these high tech sono machines since she is a high risk doctor. When Justin and I got there, a sono tech brought us into a room where there was a huge flat screen TV in front of us where we would be able to see our babies! It was really cool!

The sono tech took tons of measurements and said everything looks great. She said both placentas are in a good position to have the CVS done as well. We got to see our little babies on the big screen! They were so cute! They literally wouldn't stop moving. They were jumping around and turning and waving and kicking! We got to see everything! It was adorable!

After the sono we met with Dr. Vora and we told her that even if both babies had the disease or any disease (God forbid), we wouldn't terminate. So, she told us we probably shouldn't do the CVS since we wouldn't do anything with the information and it isn't worth the risk. We felt a lot better about that decision and just figured we would get the babies tested once they are here with us!

Here they are! These aren't the greatest pictures - they were moving so much! - but they are still cute :)
