GREAT NEWS! After WEEKS of annoying the insurance company as well as my Doctor's office, my insurance company has decided to pre-certify me to receive IVF! This is huge because IVF is extremely costly (approx. $15,000) and having insurance cover it is obviously incredible. The only problem is that since Dr. Hershlag is not an "in network" doctor, the insurance company will only cover 80% of the "fair market value" of the services rendered. This means that if Dr. Hershlag's bill is $10, and insurance thinks it should only be $8, insurance will only cover 80% of 8, NOT 80% of 10. BUT, it is definitely better than nothing!
This whole insurance debacle has really shown me just how hard this whole process is going to be. The past two weeks for me have been absolutely horrible. Thinking that insurance wouldn't cover my cycles made me incredibly sad. The thought that these people could dictate when and if I could have children infuriated me. It is hard enough to accept the fact that we have to go through all of this in order to have children, but to have the insurance company add to all of this stress makes everything that much harder to handle. What also compounded the situation and made it so much worse is that i had hide in corners in my office and talk in the bathroom on my cell phone to make all of these phone calls. I have no privacy in my office which made dealing with all of this nonsense at work almost unbearable!
